COVID-19 Care Packages for North Korean Defectors

On December 16, 2020, Saejowi sent out 200 COVID-19 care packages to North Korean defector families all across the country as a surprise Christmas present! The gift boxes included mental wellness cards, North Korean corn noodles for the memories, KF94 masks, comfortable clothes, toothpaste, and for some families with younger children, we even had shoes and handmade dolls!

We are immensely grateful to our hardworking North and South Korean volunteers for squatting on the cold floors for many hours, sorting and packing. We are also very grateful to the Western Union Foundation Fund (with the support of Give2Asia) for sponsoring this project to cheer North Korean defectors during these pandemic-stricken times. We've had many calls from North Korean defectors for the past few days, telling us how happy they were to eat food from the north again
