JULY 18 — Saejowi and the Council for Reunification Education (통일교육협의회) hosted a guest lecture and group discussion for North Korean refugees. Professor Kim Suk-hyang of Ewha Women’s University was invited to lecture on the differences in North and South Korean women’s lifestyles, putting a particular emphasis on gender roles, childrearing, and employment. During group discussion, refugees had the opportunity to express their personal concerns and grievances regarding their own experiences transitioning to South Korean society as women and mothers.
