Research Intern

Seoul, South Korea

As a Research Intern, your role will be to produce policy papers on a broad range of topics concerning North Korean refugees, conduct research when needed, and provide logistic support to our major conferences and events.

Internship duration:
- Starting and end date are negotiable
- A minimum commitment of 20 working hours per week is required

- Lunch will be provided 

Qualifications:
- Current student or recent graduate with record of strong academic achievement
- General interest in East Asian politics and refugee issues
- Ability to be a self-starter, working on projects with minimal supervision

- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills required; working proficiency of Korean is preferred 

Who you’ll work with:
- You will work with Saejowi’s main office in Seoul. Our organization deals mainly with North Korean defectors, so you will have direct, first-hand access to work with the defectors that drop in and out of our office.

- Previous interns have used Saejowi’s resources to conduct interviews and gather information for their research papers and projects.

- You will also have the opportunity to work closely with our senior advisors who have extensive work experience in Cheong Wa Dae, investment banking, mobile gaming, and lobbying industries.

What you’ll do:
- Draft policy papers based on research conducted on North Korean refugees

- Create engaging content for our audience on our blog page

- Support directors in compiling annual reports and donor information 

- Assist in the development of our major conferences and events

You will develop extensive knowledge of the North Korean refugee situation, as well as the general situation on the Korean peninsula.
